BorrowDirect Plus (Ivy Plus Libraries Confederation)

Everyone is welcome to consult the Library’s print and electronic collections by visiting the Library.

Faculty, students, and benefits eligible staff at Ivy Plus institutions are also eligible for quarterly borrowing with a 25 concurrent item limit at no charge.

Get a UChicago Library Borrower Card

To get a UChicago Library borrower card, visit the ID & Privileges Office and:

  • show current institutional ID
  • a government-issued photo ID
  • verify affiliation by using network credentials from their home institution.

Borrowing is valid through the current academic quarter only and must be renewed each successive quarter by visiting the ID & Privileges Office.

Electronic Resources, Library Computers, & Wireless

Visitors may access the Library’s electronic resources while in Library buildings by using the University wireless network or Library computers.

Visitors need to present a current, government-issued photo ID to be issued credentials for the University wireless network or Library computers.

Keeping Contact Information Current

All library users are responsible for keeping their personal contact information updated.

Login to My Library Account and choose Profile to view your current contact information.

For instructions on updating your contact information, including your preferred first name, see Catalog Help - Profile.

Lost or Stolen Cards

If your UChicago Card or Library Card is lost or stolen, please follow the Lost/Stolen Card Procedure.

To replace a lost or stolen card, visit the ID & Privileges Office.

Policies While Visiting the Library

We expect all users to abide by all Library policies, including those listed in Maintaining a Scholarly Environment.

The University of Chicago Library reserves the right to bar anyone from any or all parts of its premises. Disruptive or inappropriate behavior or any other violations of Library policies may result in suspension of visitor access.

The Library may limit visitor access during especially busy periods.
