More than perhaps any other artform, the videogame takes practice. This is one of the barriers to familiarity with the medium, but is also one of its most rewarding features for those with the inclination, money, and time. While some activities and means of control remain constant across a significant number of games, playing a new game will usually involve learning a new way of performing an action, even for experienced gamers. This is especially true for Super Metroid, where Samus' super-human skills must often be practiced before the player can advance.
