Treatment tests

When the conservation treatments possible for an object or family of objects are unknown, similar objects can be used or created on which to test treatment protocols. In the samples shown, unknown types of photoreproduction, along with known and common types, were tested for their reactions to common treatments such as passive humidification and tape removal using solvents. Using the information gathered during testing, collection materials can be more safely treated and new possible treatment methods can be found.
