To Campus

Regenstein is located near the center of campus, just north of the Main Quadrangle.

The nearest parking garage is at the corner of 55th St. and Ellis Ave., about two blocks from the Regenstein Library. Posted parking fees will apply.

Free street parking around the library is available, but competitive during the week. Please note that some streets may have posted parking restrictions due to construction around campus.

To Campus

During the day on Thursday, the most convenient form of public transit between downtown hotels and Hyde Park is the CTA Bus route #6 or the METRA Electric train.

Bus fare is $2.25 for a one way trip. Buses accept cash and coins and require exact change. Train fare on the METRA is $3.00 for a one way trip.

Buses also accept transit cards for a reduced fare of $2. Transit cards can be purchased in advance online or at various locations throughout Chicago, including Regenstein's ID & Privileges Office.

For those attending only the evening reception, the #2 CTA Hyde Park Express (see Friday CTA bus routes below) is another option.

Handout for Thursday afternoon public transit

On Thursday evening, April 19th, a shuttle bus will be available after the opening reception to take attendees to the downtown hotels reserved for the symposium. The shuttle will leave at 7:00 pm.

Public transit options between Hyde Park and downtown are limited outside of morning and evening rush hours.

During morning and evening rush hours, the most convenient way for attendees to get between downtown and Hyde Park is the CTA Bus route #2 Hyde Park Express.  Service to Hyde Park begins at 6:50 am. Service back downtown ends around 6:00 pm.

Buses also accept transit cards for a reduced fare of $2. Transit cards can be purchased in advance online or at various locations throughout Chicago, including Regenstein's ID & Privileges Office.a

Taxi fare to and from the downtown hotels and Regenstein Library is currently approximately $25 with 15% tip.

The two main taxi companies in Chicago are Checker Cab and Yellow Cab, and you can hire one by calling 312-TAXICAB, or 312-829-4222. All affiliated taxis are required to accept credit cards.
