This collection contains 208 British romance novelettes and popular paperbacks dating from the 1940s to the 1960s.
The collection is divided into two series:
Series I, British Romance Novelettes, contains pocket edition romances published by William Stevens, Ltd. in London from the 1940s through the 1950s. Many contain advertisements throughout aimed at female readers. These are divided into two subseries: 1) True Love Series and 2) New Moon Series.
Series II, British Popular Paperbacks, contains popular paperbacks issued in the 1960s by a variety of publishers in the UK. The series is further subdivided by publisher. Included are several war-related adventure comics published by Fleetway Publications (later IPC Magazines), and Tarzan comics issued by Western Publishing, Inc. Additional pocket edition romances aimed at a female readership are included in this series.
