Information for Bookstacks Access
In a pilot, a limited number of appointments to browse the Regenstein bookstacks will be available to faculty, other academic appointees, postdocs, and graduate students from June 14 through July 18.

Booking an Appointment
Appointments must be made at least 24 hours in advance for a given day and may be made up to 14 days in advance.
To book a Bookstacks Appointment:
- Visit Regenstein Bookstacks Appointments and select "Go to Date" or "Next Available" to choose a date.
- Click on the booking grid to select a slot.
- Click “Submit Times” and log in with your CNetID and password.
- Complete the booking form and click “Submit My Booking."
You will receive an automatic confirmation email within a few minutes of booking a seat, as well as a reminder email 4 hours before the start of a booking.
Cancelling an Appointment
You can cancel a booking by clicking on the cancellation link in your confirmation/reminder email, up to one hour before the start of your booking.
Visiting the Library
To access the Library for your reservation, you will need to tap your UChicago ID at the entry gates. Please bring a copy of your confirmation email with you to your appointment.
During your visit you are required to follow UChicago public health guidelines including wearing a mask at all times while in the Library and maintaining social distancing. Be prepared to show your UChicago ID and confirmation email if asked by a staff member or a compliance monitor to do so.
The A Level and most of the 1st Floor remain restricted to Library staff only. Mansueto and Regenstein Reading Room areas designated for reserved seating may only be used by booking a seat in those areas.
Browsing the Stacks

Due to limited staffing, in-person assistance in the bookstacks will generally be unavailable. If you cannot locate an item on the shelf, please submit a paging request and staff will search for it and make it available for pickup if found.
Checking Out Materials
If you wish to check out items, you will need to use the Checkout UChicago app and self-checkout kiosk.
As a reminder, materials available via HathiTrust ETAS are not available for checkout.
Carrels for consulting materials are located on the perimeter of each floor of the bookstacks. You may also use any tables in the B-Level bookstacks. In reading rooms, please use tables marked for Stacks Access Patrons Only.
Please leave materials you have finished using in marked reshelving areas near the main stairs.
If you need a study space for an extended time, please Book a Seat.
Faculty with studies may access them during their reservation time.
Copiers and scanners are available for use on the B-Level.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, Library staff are unable to provide assistance with copiers and scanners.
