Accessing the Collections

The Hanna Holborn Gray Special Collections Research Center provides access to the University of Chicago's rare books, manuscripts, and university archives. We welcome use of the resources by faculty, students, and staff of the University of Chicago and by visiting researchers.

Access to archives, manuscripts, and special collections is provided in accordance with the Polices Governing the Use of Archives, Manuscript and Special Collections. Access to University of Chicago administrative records is governed by Regulations Governing Access to Official Records of the University of Chicago in the University of Chicago Archives. Other archival and manuscript collections may be governed by specific restrictions or may not be available for immediate use; before planning a research visit, please contact Special Collections staff for further information.
