Regenstein Audiovisual Room

The Regenstein Audiovisual Room (JRL 307) is located in the 3rd Floor Reading Area.

Using the Audiovisual Room

The Audiovisual Room is kept locked. To use the room, you must borrow a key from the Regenstein Circulation Desk on the 1st Floor or the Recordings Collection (JRL 360)

If you wish to watch video, you will also need to borrow an AV kit containing a remote control for the proper device.

All equipment requires headphones, which may also be borrowed from Circulation or Recordings.

While using the Audiovisual Room, patrons are expected to comply with all Library Policies. In addition, we ask users to follow the specific policies below.

Station A (For CD and Vinyl LP Playback)

To Play a CD

  1. Turn on the Receiver, which is the top component in the Station A wall-case. The On/Off button is located on the upper left
  2. Along the bottom right of the Receiver, notice the lowest row of rectangular buttons. Press the button for CD
  3. Headphones are required.  Insert the headphone jack into the port on the lower left of the Reciever
  4. Volume is controllled with the volume knob on the Receiver
  5. Turn on the CD player, which is the component below the Receiver
  6. Press the Open/Close button, insert CD and use the remaining buttons to control playback
  7. When finished, make certain all components are turned off

 To play an LP

  1. Turn on the Receiver, which is the top component in the Station A wall-case. The On/Off button is located on the upper left
  2. Along the bottom right of the Receiver, notice the lowest row of rectangular buttons. Press the button for Phono
  3. Headphones are required.  Insert the headphone jack into the port on the lower left of the Reciever
  4. Volume is controllled with the volume knob on the Receiver
  5. The LP turntable is the bottom component in the Station A wall- case and is mounted on a pull-out tray
  6. To unlock the tray, turn the tray latch clockwise and fully extend the tray and turntable outward so that the dust cover can open without obstruction
  7. Press the turntable Start button; the tone arm will automatically move to the first track on the LP
  8. To play a specific track, press the Up/Down button to raise the tonearm and manually move it to the desired track. Press the Up/Down button again to lower the tonearm
  9. When finished, press the Stop button and the tonearm automatically returns to its resting position, Close the dust cover and push the tray back into the unit
  10. To lock the turntable tray in the closed position turn the latch counterclockwise so that it is pointing downward
  11. Make certain the Receiver is also turned off

  Station B (For CD and Cassette Playback)

To Play a CD

  1. Turn on the Receiver, which is the top component in the Station B wall-case. The On/Off button is located on the upper left
  2. Along the bottom right of the Receiver, notice the lowest row of rectangular buttons. Press the button for CD
  3. Headphones are required.  Insert the headphone jack into the port on the lower left of the Reciever
  4. Volume is controllled with the volume knob on the Receiver
  5. Turn on the CD player, which is the component below the Receiver
  6. Press the Open/Close button, insert CD, and use the remaining buttons to control playback
  7. When finished, make certain all components are turned off

 To play a Cassette

  1. Turn on the Receiver, which is the top component in the Station B wall-case. The On/Off button is located on the upper left
  2. Along the bottom right of the Receiver, notice the lowest row of rectangular buttons. Press the button for Tape 1
  3. Headphones are required.  Insert the headphone jack into the port on the lower left of the Reciever
  4. Volume is controllled with the volume knob on the Receiver
  5. Turn on the Cassette player, which is the bottom component in the Station B wall-case.  The Power button is on the upper left
  6. To open, press the Eject button at the bottom of the player next to the A cassette tray
  7. Insert the cassette with the exposed tape edge facing down. Close the tray
  8. Use the player buttons to control playback. If you hear no sound, press the Tape 1 button on the Receiver a second time
  9. When finished, make certain that all components have been turned off
  10. The B cassette tray can also be used for playback; it does not record.  Select the Tape 2 button on the Receiver 

  Station C

To Play a DVD

  1. Press red Energy button on black LG remote to turn on monitor
  2. Insert the headphone jack into any of the eight ports mounted on the top left of the cabinet. Smaller ports can be used without an adapter. Do Not use the ports on the DVD/VCR player. Control volume with the small sliders above the ports
  3. Make certain that the small gray Input Selector button is out (Position 1)
  4. Press Power button on the silver LG remote to turn on the DVD/VCR player
  5. Press the button labeled DVD on the remote
  6. Press the Eject/Open/Close button on the remote; when the tray opens, insert the DVD and press the button again to close the tray (the tray may take awhile to open)
  7. Use the other controls on the remote to play, move forward and backward, select scenes, etc. Note that all the necessary control buttons are also present on the front of the DVD/VCR player itself
  8. When finished, press the Stop button, remove DVD from tray and turn off DVD/VCR player and monitor
  9. Make certain all components are turned off

 To play a video cassette (currently unavailable)

  1. Follow steps 1-4 under “Instructions for Playing DVDs”
  2. Press the button labeled VCR on the remote
  3. Insert videocassette into slot; the overlying flap will move upward to allow access
  4. Use the controls on the remote to play, move forward and backward, select scenes, etc. Note that all the necessary control buttons are also present on the front of the DVD/VCR player itself
  5. When finished, rewind the videocassette, eject and turn off DVD/VCR player and monitor

To play a Laserdisc

  1. Press red Energy button on LG black remote to turn on monitor
  2. Make certain that the small gray Input Selector button is pressed in (Position 2)
  3. Insert the headphones into any of the eight ports mounted on the top left of cabinet. Smaller ports can be used without an adapter. Do not use the ports on the DVD/VCR player. Control volume with the small sliders above the ports
  4. There is no remote for the Laserdisc player. Press the Power button on the player itself
  5. Press the Open/Close button to open the tray and insert the disc; press the button again to close
  6. Press the Play button to begin; turn and hold the round knob to move forward or backward; the skip buttons move to the next or the previous scenes.
  7. When finished, press the Stop button, remove disc and turn off player and monitor

Station D

To play a BluRay disc

  1. Press red Energy button on the black LG remote to turn on monitor
  2. Insert the headphone jack into any of the eight ports mounted on the top left of cabinet. Smaller ports can be used without an adapter. Control volume with the small sliders above the ports
  3. Press large green button on black Sony remote to turn on player
  4. Press the Open/Close button to open the tray and insert the disc; press the button again to close
  5. Use the controls on the remote to play, move forward and backward, select scenes, etc.
  6. When finished, press the Stop button, remove disc and turn off player and monitor
