Baldo degli Ubaldi, often called Baldus de Perusia (Perugia), a professor of civil law who taught at various northern Italian universities, enjoyed an enormous reputation in his own time and later. His legal consultations, or "Consilia," were among the most popular of his writings and many copies of them circulated among law students.
Material attributed to Baldo degli Ubaldi predominates in this manuscript, but the Consilia of his brothers Angelo and Pietro, and more than a dozen additional legal authorities and medieval writers on jurisprudence are also included.
