Abstract:

This collection contains a scrapbook compiled by University of Chicago alumnus John Henry Roser during his undergraduate years. The material dates from 1911 to 1916, and includes programs, dance cards, tickets, and other ephemera.

Biographical Note

John Henry Roser was born on June 14, 1895 in Chicago. He entered the University of Chicago in September of 1912, and received his Ph. B. in 1916 in History and Political Science. While at the University, Roser was a member of the Masonic Club and played in the University orchestra.

Scope Note

The collection contains one scrapbook, compiled by John Roser during his college years. Roser mostly collected programs and tickets from University cultural and athletic events and class exercises, as well as playbills and programs from other Chicago arts organizations. Also included are club membership cards, course time schedules, picture postcards, dance cards, photographs, pins, and other mementos.
