Historical Note

The Dissertation Office at the University of Chicago Library helps doctoral students with dissertation formatting and publication requirements, the dissertation submission process, and communicates with department administrators to manage dissertation submissions and departmental approval. The Office also audits dissertation submissions to make sure they meet University requirements and works with ProQuest and Knowledge@UChicago to coordinate dissertation publishing and restrictions.

Scope Note

This collection consists of notecards. Boxes 2-5 consist of notecards listing students who wrote papers for their master’s degree. The cards are arranged by academic program and then alphabetically by last name. The cards include the paper title and date. There are also cards for the academic programs that have information about the program.

Boxes 5-6 consist of notecards that record students who received a master’s degree without a thesis. These are arranged alphabetically by last name.
