Requesting Visitor Access to the John Crerar Library

The John Crerar Library serves people with specific research needs related to the sciences and medicine. Please fill out the query below and request access to the Library prior to coming to campus. By informing us of the nature of your visit, both Reference Librarians and members of Access Services will have a chance to review your research needs. If you are admitted, you will be asked to sign in at our main entrance.

Extended Privileges for Scholarly Research

  • If you wish to consult government documents, please see the Government Documents Access web page. Some older/rare books are in the Special Collections Research Center, for access please consult the Special Collections Research Center Access page.

  • Unaffiliated persons who are engaged in scholarly work may also apply for extended privileges by forwarding a written statement (via US Mail or email) of their research needs to the Privileges Office.
