DSWindows user guide
Provides current and historical statistics on equities, indexes, investment trusts, warrants, bonds interest rates, exchange rates, commodities, and macroeconomic data for both U.S. and foreign countries.
Tip:
There are 3 different versions you may search - Advance, via MS Excel, or DSWindows (telnet). Advance is the easiest to use but provides less data.
Dedicated terminals are located in the Harper Center Computer Lab and on the first floor of Regenstein Library (workstation A-9).
Dow Jones Indexes Provides current and historical statistical data on the Dow Jones Industrial Average and other DJ indexes. There is also information on the component changes of the DJIA.
EarthTrends: The Environmental Information Portal Free resource. Earthtrends focuses on environmental data but it also includes a wide range of international economic and social indicators. Data can be downloaded to Excel. Earthtrends also includes links to relevant government agencies and non-government organizations.
Economic Census The Economic Census profiles the U.S. economy every 5 years, from the national to the local level. Lists geographic, industry and special subject series (Mdse Line Sales/Source of Receipts, Establishment and Firm Size, etc.).
EconStats Provides free access to U.S. economic data and global stock indices. Futures, currency and global economic data are not accessible for free.
Eurostat Official site of the Statistical Office of the European Union. Contains a great deal of data on the EU and other countries, including macroeconomics external trade, demographics and industrial data.
FRED:
An Economic Time-Series Database
Produced by the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis. It includes U.S. data on interest rates, exchange rates, CPI, GDP, PPI, etc.
Global Market Information Database Marketing, demographic and economic data from Euromonitor - country data, consumer lifestyles, consumer market sizes, forecasts, companies & brands, and major market profiles.
Tip: search for the phrase "consumer lifestyles" to find detailed reports on consumer markets in various countries.
Interactive Tariff and Trade DataWeb Produced by the United States International Trade Commission. Customized import and export data that may be viewed by country, value, etc. or HTS, SIC, SITC, and NAICS codes. You must create a free account in order to access the data.
International Financial Statistics An International Monetary Fund product containing worldwide macroeconomic data going as far back as 1945.
Inter-University Consortium for Political and Social Research ICPSR maintains and provides access to a vast archive of social science data for research and instruction, and offers training in quantitative methods to facilitate effective data use. Access to data is currently restricted to buildings in the Social Sciences Division, the Graduate School of Business and the Harris Graduate School of Public Policy Studies.

formerly known as Statistical Universe.
Allows you to search for U.S., local/regional, and international statistics. Tip: In most cases you will find more data when searching the "Abstracts" as opposed to the "Power Tables".
Macroeconomic Time Series Locator Locate macroeconomic data sources available at the University of Chicago Library categorized by year, geographic location and subject. Types of sources include books, journals, yearbooks, CD-ROMs and Internet resources.
Regional Economic Accounts Produced by the Bureau of Economic Analysis. Provides local area economic data for states, counties, and metropolitan areas for 1969 to the present. Statistics include: personal income and earnings, full and part employment, transfer payments, and farm income and expenses.
SourceOECD The online publications portal of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development. Access to OECD books, periodicals and statistical tables. Tip: Note the Statistics section.
STAT-USA Contains current and historical macroeconomic data for the United States (the State of the Nation section). It also contains information on international market research, trade opportunities and country analysis (the Globus & NTDB section).
United Nations Common Database Similar to World Development Indicators, UNSTATS provides selected series from 30 specialized international data sources for all available countries and areas. Has the ability to download the data into an Excel spreadsheet.
USA Trade Online Provides import/export statistics by customs port area, country and commodity. Has the ability to download the data into an Excel spreadsheet.

WRDS taps the most comprehensive sources of financial, accounting, economic, management, marketing, banking, and insurance data, including CRSP and Compustat.

World Development Indicators There are more than 500 timeseries indicators under the headings: world view, environment, economy, states and markets and global links. Data is annual, only at the country level and goes back as far as 1960. Also available on CD-ROM, held at Mixed Media, Regenstein Circulation, call # CDRom HC59.W62.
World Population Prospects From the United Nations Population Division. Includes population data by age, sex-ratio, birth and death rates and more. Includes projections out to 2050 for almost all countries and regions.
