Research at the Center The Special Collections Research Center is located on the first floor of the Joseph Regenstein Library, on the campus of the University of Chicago. The main entrance to the Joseph Regenstein Library is on the north side of East 57th Street between Ellis Avenue and University Avenue. The University of Chicago is situated approximately six miles south of downtown Chicago (the Loop), on the Midway Plaissance between Jackson Park and Washington Park, several blocks west of Lake Michigan and the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago's Hyde Park neighboorhood. Comprehensive information for campus visitors is available at the University of Chicago Visitors' Center on the Web, including detailed maps of the University of Chicago campus and the Hyde Park neighborhood as well as directions for public transportation (CTA and Metra) from local airports and points around the city to Hyde Park. Taxis from Midway Airport to the campus usually cost about $25; from O'Hare Airport about $50.
