ChemFinder. CambridgeSoft.
Web-based chemical search engine. Data is not evaluated, but this
is a convenient and accessible way to do a preliminary data search
by name, formula, CAS Registry Number, or even by structure
(requires a free plug-in). Links to data usually include basic
chemical and physical properties (melting point, boiling point,
solubility, density, etc.) and often include sources for commercial
availability and toxicological and safety information. A list of
sites indexed is also available.

SciFinder Scholar. Chemical Abstracts
Service.
While not strictly a data resource, this online version of Chemical
Abstracts is often an excellent resource for identifying
publication of data in the primary journal literature. Results sets
can be large; contact the Chemistry Librarian if you need
assistance in developing search strategies. This client based
resource can be searched from public workstations in the Chemistry
and Crerar Libraries, or from other campus networked computers. The
client software must be downloaded from the Chemistry Library web
site.

edition. Multi-volume set. Springer-Verlag: Berlin,
A compilation of critically evaluated numerical data organized by

Zahlenwerte und Funktionen aus Naturwissenschaften und Technik,
Neue Serie
Numerical Data and Functional Relationships in Science and
Technology, New Series. Landolt-Bornstein.
Multi-volume set Springer-Verlag: Berlin,
This series, in conjunction with the 6th edition, represents the
most comprehensive compilation of numerical data available. While
many volumes were published in German, the more recent volumes are
produced entirely in English. A comprehensive subject index is
available in print, as well as a 3 volume substance index. Many
volumes are accompanied by supplementary computer disk or CD-ROMs
and there are now page images of a large number of the print
volumes available from the publisher's website. The set is
comprised of 9 "groups" of volumes, each in a different subject
area. The groups are Units and Fundamental Constants, Elementary
Particles, Nuclei and Atoms (Group I), Molecules and Radicals
(Group II), Condensed Matter (Group III), Physical Chemistry (Group
IV), Geophysics (Group V), Astronomy and Astrophysics (Group VI),
Biophysics (Group VII), and Advanced Materials and Technologies
(Group VIII). The volumes are sometimes internally organized
idiosyncratically, and it may be necessary to consult indexes
within individual volumes, or scan a number of tables to find the
data of interest. All data are accompanied by literature
references.

CRC Handbook of Chemistry and Physics. Annual.
CRC Press: Boca Raton,
Tables of particular interest are 1) physical constants of
inorganic compounds, 2) physical constants of organic compounds, 3)
physical properties of organometallic compounds, 4) selected
thermodynamic properties, and 5) vapor pressure of inorganic and
organic compounds. This handbook is revised regularly, and contains
the most common compounds. The web version is licensed for the
University of Chicago community and offers very good searching
capabilities. Tables are sometimes removed from various editions,
so it is helpful to look at several editions when searching for
particular properties or data.

Boulder, CO., 1985-.
This publication is 14-volume set containing critically evaluated
data covering physical and thermodynamic properties of all classes
of hydrocarbons and certain classes of sulfur derivatives of
hydrocarbons present in petroleum and coal. The Hydrocarbons
collection contains information on more than 3,700 compounds
arranged in more than 200 groups. Updating supplements appear
semi-annually and are available on a subscription basis. Data in
this publication has been collected from a number of projects and
was previously published by the Thermodynamics Research Center at
Texas A&M University, with cooperation of the American
Petroleum Institute's Research Project 44 (QD305.H5A5 Chemistry
Library Reference, Selected Values of Properties of
Hydrocarbons and Related Compounds). Some data also appeared
previously as Thermochemical Data and Structures of Organic
Compounds (QD255.4.T48 Chemistry Library Reference). While the
number of compounds covered is relatively small, the data reported
is detailed and authoritative. Simple physical, phase transition,
condensed phases thermodynamics, ideal gas, temperature-dependent
and real fluids properties are included in the reported data.
