- American Educational Reseach
Association (AERA)
AERA is the major educational research
membership organization in the U.S. Its work is conducted through
twelve major Divisions and several dozen
Special Interest
Groups (SIGs). The website includes the AERA Registry of Educational
Researchers and information about its publications. Additional
features are available only to AERA members.

Reform Organizations and Resources
The Center for Education Reform offers several directories of
community organizations, professional associations, and groups
working on standards and curriculum.
- Education
Resource Organizations Directory (EROD)
EROD, from the U.S. Dept. of Education, lists nearly 4,000
government agencies, non-profit groups and other entities that are
available to provide information and assistance on
education-related topics. For instance, listings are included for
State Education Agencies, Coordinators of Homeless Education,
Regional Educational Laboratories, Special Education Assistance
Centers and more. The Directory is searchable and browsable and for
each organization provides address, phone, email, fax and URL.

- National
Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education
(NCATE)--Constituent Directory
NCATE has more than 30 affiliated organizations that are concerned
with quality teaching. These range from teachers in a particular
subject area and child-centered groups to organizations of state
policy makers and educational administrators.
- Online
Educational Resources
From the U.S. Department of
Education, this list has several categories the most important
being "Ed-funded internet resources" that includes links to all the
agencies receiving funding, such as regional assistance centers,
regional educational laboratories, research and development
centers, and examplary school programs. Other categories include
federal and state government agencies, organizations and resources
that, for the most part, are taken from EROD.
- Scholarly
Societies Project
"Facilitating access to information
about scholarly societies across the world since 1994," this
resource is sponsored by the University of Waterloo Library. The
directory of more than 4,000 scholarly societies is searchable and
browsable by subject, country, language and date of founding. More
than 150 scholarly societies are listed for education.
Special features of the Scholarly Societies website include lists
of society sites offering full-text serials, standards, and meeting
announcements. The Project also provides some information about
scholarly communication and publishing.
- World of Learning
(access restricted to those with UofC computing accounts)
This "international guide to the academic world" has entries for
scholarly societies, as well as universities, cultural
institutions, research centers, and more.
- Yahoo--Education--Organizations
This general web directory lists hundreds of education
organizations ranging from scholarly societies and professional
associations of educators to graduate student unions and
foundations that support education.

Yearbook of International Organizations (access
restricted)
From the Union of
International Associations, this directory includes profiles
for more than 30,000 nongovernmental and intergovernmental
organizations from more than 300 countries. Biographical profiles
are also available.
Selected Education Organizations
In addition to offering membership information and statements of
goals and projects, many of these organizations provide lists of
internet sites useful for their subject area, the full-text of
documents, publication lists, and other useful resources.
