How do I find journals, newspapers, or magazines?

Getting Started

There are several different ways you can determine if the University of Chicago Library has a journal, magazine, or newspaper. Below there are three options for locating the publication that you need.

Searching the Library Catalog

If you have a known citation, you can search the Library Catalog to determine if the Library has a journal available in print, microform, or online.

Using Find It! from within a Library Database FindIt Button

If you are searching a Library database, and have located a citation for an article, Find It! will link you to the full-text of the article (if it is available). If the full-text is not an option, Find It! will link you to the Library Catalog record for the print or microfilm version of the journal.

Not all of the Library's electronic resources will offer the Find It service. In these cases, you will have to search the Library Catalog.

Searching the Library's E-Journals Database

The E-Journals database on the Library's Web page will help you determine if a journal, magazine, or newspaper is available online. If you do not locate a journal on this list, or if the issues you need is not available online, you should search the Library Catalog to determine if we have the publication in print or on microform.
