Reference Services

Reference services are primarily for students, faculty, staff, alumni, and other members of the University of Chicago community. For those not affiliated with the University of Chicago, reference assistance is limited to the collections and services unique to the University of Chicago.

Reference desk hours are posted on the D'Angelo Law Library web site. During the academic year, reference librarians are available from 9:00 am to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday by email and  Ask a Law Librarian service, and via email from noon until 4:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. You can access the Ask a Law Librarian service either from your personal computer or from the Research Help Desk located by the Circulation Desk.

The reference librarians are Sheri Lewis, Library Director; Ariel Scotese, Associate Director for User Services; Lyonette Louis-Jacques, Foreign and International Law Librarian; Connie Fleischer, Research Services Librarian; and Scott Vanderlin, Student Services Librarian.

In addition to general reference service, the reference staff conducts general and specialized tours of the library, presents lectures on legal research topics, and provides instruction on LexisNexis, Westlaw, Bloomberg Law, and other legal resources.

For reference assistance in areas other than law, consult the list of subject specialists at other campus libraries.
