The neighborhoods along long-established lines like the CTA's Red, Brown, and Green Lines show much higher levels of transit use than neighborhoods along the recently-built CTA Orange Line to Midway Airport. Similarly, the areas along suburban lines like the Burlington, the "IC" (Metra Electric), and the three branches of the Northwestern (UP) that have been in place for more than a century and that have frequent service show higher levels of transit use than areas close to newly-established low-service lines like the Heritage Line.
