Stacie Williams serves on Library of Congress’ National Digital Strategy Roundtable

Stacie Williams, the inaugural director of the University of Chicago Library’s Center for Digital Scholarship, was recently invited by the Library of Congress (LoC) to join the newly formed National Digital Strategy Roundtable. Williams is part of a group of peers who help to advise the Librarian of Congress, Carla Hayden, AM’77, PhD’87, and the Library of Congress’ LC Labs on the LoC’s digital transformation of collections, services, and access points.

The Roundtable, which has been chartered for a two-year term, met in June to discuss the LoC’s Digital Strategy report, released in 2018, and to offer feedback and perspective on concerns as wide ranging as copyright; digitization; creating computational data from historical LoC collections to increase access to and creation of digital scholarship; digital discovery platforms; enhancing machine-readable metadata, including on bibliographic records; and developing community partnerships to better share digital collections at the state and local levels.
