Hanna Holborn Gray Fellow for Digital Gaming Communities Web Archive

Division/Department: Humanities & Area Studies, University of Chicago Library

Fellowship coordinator: André G. Wenzel, Bibliographer for Literatures of Europe & the Americas

General Summary:

The Hanna Holborn Gray Graduate Digital Gaming Communities Web Archive Fellow will work with the Digital Gaming Communities Web Archive, which is an initiative to identify, collect and archive varying web formats generated by and related to digital games in order to foster research within the discipline. These are stored in the Web Archive at https://archive-it.org/collections/13621. To date, we have identified over 800 sites to archive.

The fellow will work with the librarians responsible for the archive to enhance collection focus, identify web sites to archive, and develop a plan for promoting this archive to the gaming communities. This project will make these materials available for future researchers, enhance its visibility, and strengthen the project at its core.

The fellow will develop skills in defining and articulating a research project and in presenting the project to a broad audience.

Fellows are expected to write a short reflection on their experience and to make a presentation to Library staff about their activities/project near or following the completion of their fellowship experience.
