Title: The Hanna Holborn Gray Graduate Student Fellowship for Data Exploration

General Summary:

The Hanna Holborn Gray Graduate Student Fellow for Data Exploration will assist librarians with instructional programming that focuses on the introduction of data and data management concepts. They will help librarians create resources in a variety of formats, including: demonstrations, workshops, tutorials, and web content, on topics, such as data use, data management, data acquisition, and importing tabular data. The fellow will also host Walk-In Hours in the Regenstein and Crerar Library. Fellows are expected to make a presentation to Library staff about their activities/project near the completion of their fellowship experience..

Graduate students who have a particular interest in exploring ethical uses and stewardship of data are encouraged to apply.

Activities:

  • Assist data librarians with hands-on workshops. Work with librarians to refine or develop existing and new instructional materials
  • Work Walk-In Hours at the Regenstein and Crerar Library to assist users with exploring and using data, make referrals to subject specialists librarians and technical services on data acquisition
  • Update online resources
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated proficiency with data tools, but tool agnostic. Be willing to learn or share new data tools or methodologies
  • Interest in library pedagogy and instruction
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
