This exhibition includes some of the most venerable religious and cultural treasures of the University of Chicago Library. The study of the historical and literary context of the New Testament has been one of the most enduring scholarly traditions of the University, beginning with the earliest faculty and continuing with Professors Edgar J. Goodspeed, Harold R. Willoughby, and other scholars. Among the items on display, many richly illuminated, are Gospels, lectionaries, canon tables, and manuscripts of the Apocalypse in Greek, Latin, Armenian, Syriac, and Geez.
