Accessing Higher Ground 2017

Description

Accessing Higher Ground is a conference focused on issues of accessibility in higher education.Sessions address topics including:

  • Universal design and assistive technology
  • ADA and Section 508 compliance
  • Creation of accessible media, including PDFs, mathematical documents, and maps
  • Communicating with campus community about accessibility issues

University of Chicago will be hosting a live stream of the conference open to the university community. There are two concurrent conference tracks which will be streamed to locations in Crerar Library. Full schedules are posted for Track A and Track B.

One Wednesday at 2:00, there will be an update from Elizabeth Honig, Assistant Director of the Office for Equal Opportunity Programs on campus-wide accessibility initiatives. On Thursday at 11:30, there will be a round table discussion of each department's work on accessibility and potential ways to collaborate.

Location

The virtual conference will be held in Crerar Library on November 15 - 17. Sessions will be held in the Zar Room and the Board Room.

Meals and Refreshments

Light refreshments will be provided in the mornings, and lunch will be provided on Nov. 15 and 16 at 1:00 in the Zar Room. To ensure that we can provide sufficient food, please register and indicate which days you will attend.
