COVID-19 Information for Visitors

Regenstein, Mansueto, Crerar, and Eckhart libraries are open to visitors.

In order to provide broad yet safe access to all, visitors to the University of Chicago Library, including alumni, guests and family members of UChicago faculty, students, and staff, as well as researchers affiliated with other academic institutions, will be asked to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination or proof of a recent COVID-19 test.

UChicago Health Pact - Masks Required

Everyone entering library buildings is expected to follow the current University of Chicago Health Pact, which includes wearing a face covering regardless of vaccination status.

Faculty

Tenured and tenure track faculty at UIC are eligible for borrowing privileges.

  • Loan period: 28 days for Crerar; 6 weeks for all other libraries, unless recalled
  • Due date: varies; see My Library Account
  • Renewals: 3

To establish privileges, obtain an authorized UIC Faculty Library ID through the Richard J. Daley Library, then bring it, your UIC ID (i-card), and a government-issued photo ID to the ID & Privileges Office.

Students

Students at UIC are eligible for access privileges.

To establish privileges, obtain an authorized UIC Graduate Student or Undergraduate Student Library ID through the UIC Richard J. Daley Library then bring it, your UIC ID (i-card), and a government-issued photo ID to the ID & Privileges Office.

Electronic Resources, Library Computers, & Wireless

Visitors may access the Library’s electronic resources only while in Library buildings, due to site licensing agreements.

While in Library buildings, visitors may use Library computers to access electronic resources.

Visitors may also access the University guest wireless network while in Library buildings for internet access only.

Maintaining a Scholarly Environment

We expect all users to abide by all Library policies, including those listed in Maintaining a Scholarly Environment.

As a private institution, the University of Chicago Library reserves the right to bar anyone from any or all parts of its premises. Disruptive or inappropriate behavior or any other violations of Library policies may result in suspension of visitor access.
