Everyone is welcome to consult the Library’s print and electronic collections by visiting the Library.
Current faculty, students, and benefits eligible staff from the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago are also eligible for:
- Quarterly Borrowing (three automatic renewals and a 25 concurrent item limit)
- Paging & Pickup (request UChicago Library materials in advance for pickup)
- Interlibrary Loan (request materials and scans from other libraries)
- Scan & Deliver (request scans of articles and book chapters from UChicago Library collections)
Library accounts for new and current LSTC faculty, academics, students, and staff are created and updated automatically. If you believe your account has expired in error, please contact the ID & Privileges Office.

Claim a UChicago CNetID
Before you get a UChicago Library Card, you need to claim a CNetID.
To claim a CNetID, you will need your ChicagoID number, which you will receive from LSTC.
You will use your CNetID and password to login to all UChicago Library services.

Get a UChicago Library Card
To get a UChicago Library card, present a current government-issued photo ID to the ID & Privileges Office.
Electronic Resources, Library Computers, & Wireless
Visitors may access the Library’s electronic resources while in Library buildings by using the University wireless network or Library computers.
Visitors need to present a current, government-issued photo ID to be issued credentials for the University wireless network or Library computers.

Policies While Visiting the Library
We expect all users to abide by all Library policies, including those listed in Maintaining a Scholarly Environment.
The University of Chicago Library reserves the right to bar anyone from any or all parts of its premises. Disruptive or inappropriate behavior or any other violations of Library policies may result in suspension of visitor access.
The Library may limit visitor access during especially busy periods.
