Conservation Treatment: Before and After

These books show the "before" and "after" of an early 20th century Publisher's Binding-style cloth-covered book. The book's sections were resewn with linen thread, and the covers were reattached using cotton fabric and strong Japanese paper. Acrylic paint was used where necessary to tone the outer layers of paper to match the original cover.

Two books next to each other: the left one ripped and losing its binding; the right, clean and newly bound.
