Self talks and encouraging myself are what made me shake it off and be prolific instead of being down on myself and being in the dumps.

A medium dark skinned Black man with closely shorn hair stands in front of a black BMW with its headlight on. He is looking at the camera. It is twilight and you can see houses and trees in the background. He is wearing a jeans and a black T-Shirt with "Celine" printed on the front. His left hand covers his groin and there is an open champagne bottle at his feet.

Cortez Davis (SR) Who Am I

First I would like to introduce myself. My name is Cortez Davis. I am a son, father, friend, owner of KndC Boutique (and) more. I grew up on the Eastside of Chicago in the heart of the trenches as we call it. Since a younging I always told myself I wanted more and I was going to be rich one day. I never had much like other kids but I knew and prayed one day things would change. I’ve gone through so many things from a difficult childhood, to going to jail, to trying to come up and get rich. Self talks and encouraging myself are what made me shake it off and be prolific instead of being down on myself and being in the dumps. I always told myself self-discipline brings riches. Trust the process. I have made bad choices in the past but I believe Allah (God) forgives so I refocus and go harder. Everyday is a chance to get better. The past is gone and the future hasn’t come. Today is [page 2] a blessing. Wake up realize that today is a opportunity to get better.

Choose your friends carefully, that’s something I wish I would have took heed. You’re only as good as the company you keep. I was broken and now I’m getting it together. Everyday I [am] doing better for my two sons making sure they never follow the path I was on. I’m doing my all to make sure my sons have more than I ever had. Teaching them how to be men and providers.
