I'm in the process now of trying to get a hold of my life.

A twenty something light-skinned Black man standing in front of a red brick building. He has shoulder length locks and is wearing black jeans and a black T-shirt and sneakers and a Burberry baseball cap. He is looking down and his hair is covering half of his face. He is holding a stack of dollar bills in his left hand and holding his groin with his right hand.

My name is Malik Parteet. I’m from the Westside of Chicago. I grew up in a single home where my mom was the only parent present. My upbringing wasn’t the best. I dropped out of school in fifth grade. But I was talented in sports (Basketball) which I enjoyed. I played for Anthony Davis AAU Basketball team. I've been through a lot in my young life considering I’m only twenty-three. I’ve made some good decisions and some bad ones clearly cause I’m here in Sta. [Stateville] MSU [page 2] I’m in the process now of trying to get a hold of my life. Going back to school here and trying to participate in as many programs as possible That will benefit me when I re-enter society!
