Tribute to John David Mooney

Marshall Field’s placed a full page tribute to John David Mooney and the John Crerar Library in the Chicago Tribune in 1984.  Part of the text reads “We are proud to be part of the city where art and science, history and commerce meet.”  Both Mooney and the Crerar Library are given high acclaim in the text. Mooney is described as one of the “most formidable forces in the world of art.”  For Marshall Field’s, the John Crerar Library has particular significance.  The library was originally housed in the Marshall Field’s store on Michigan Avenue from 1894-1919.
